Anicia Baron
(BSc Hons Occupational Therapy)

Occupational Therapist / Founder of Precision Hand Therapy / Specialist in Upper Limb Rehabilitation and Bespoke Splinting.

I qualified in 2000 and joined the rotation at Derby as a then Basic Grade Occupational Therapist.  I rotated into Hand Therapy in 2002 at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre, an experience which sparked my passion and love for hand therapy.  I have remained at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre ever since, working my way to becoming an experienced B7 in the team which I have held for the past 16 years.

I am skilled in treating a wide range of injuries including joint dislocations, tendon injuries, tendinopathies, fractures and post op therapy including joint replacement, tendon repairs and long term conditions such as Osteoarthritis treatment and education.  I enjoy a challenge and use a problem solving approach to my assessment and building bespoke treatment plans for my clients that can include exercise programs, scar management and bespoke splinting to help improve function and independence following injury or a hand condition.

Throughout my journey in hand therapy I have had many opportunities to develop skills in other areas including education, teaching on and running courses, as well as the professional development of staff and students. My time at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre has enabled me to become a dual competent therapist, integrating  both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy approaches into my practice.

How do people describe me?  I would say friendly, approachable and I always have a smile on my face.  Nothing is too much trouble and I will always go that extra mile for my family, friends, colleagues and clients.  I am deeply committed to making a meaningful difference through  my work.

Laura Adamson
(BSc Hons Occupational Therapy)

Occupational Therapist / Founder of Precision Hand Therapy / Specialist in Upper Limb Rehabilitation, Osteoarthritis & Skin Camouflage practitioner.

Hello, I am Laura, an Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience supporting people through recovery, regulation and reconnection.  I specialise in hand therapy, Osteoarthritis management and skin camouflage.

As co-founder of Precision Hand Therapy I work with clients recovering  from fractures, tendon and ligament injuries and soft tissue trauma, as well as those managing long-term conditions such as Osteoarthritis.  My focus is on restoring function, confidence and independence though tailored, evidence-based interventions.

As a skin camouflage practitioner, I support individuals with visible differences, whether from injury, surgery or skin conditions to feel more confident and in control of their appearance.  I offer sensitive, practical guidance using specialist products and techniques that respect each persons goals and comfort.

I'm particularly interested in the relationship between physical and mental health, and how pain, trauma and neurodivergence can shape a persons experience of recovery.

Above all, I believe that connection is key; between therapist and client, between body and mind, and between families and the professionals that support them.  Whether I am helping someone regain hand function, manage arthritis or feel more confident in their skin, my goal is simple: to enable people to thrive physically, emotionally and socially.
